TVS Jupiter CNG Review, Specs & Price in India 2025

New Delhi: TVS Motor Company has taken a bold leap into alternative fuel technology by unveiling the TVS Jupiter CNG at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. Positioned as the world’s first production-ready CNG scooter, this move signals a significant shift in the two-wheeler segment toward greener mobility.
Revolution in the Scooter Market

The Jupiter CNG is still in its concept phase but is built on the trusted and successful Jupiter 125 platform. What makes this scooter historic is its fuel system: a factory-fitted Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) setup paired with a 2-litre auxiliary petrol tank.
The CNG tank—holding 1.4 kg—is smartly placed under the seat. While this sacrifices underseat storage, TVS has taken care to ensure neat packaging. A plastic panel neatly covers the tank, with an exposed eyelet for the pressure gauge and a front-mounted filler nozzle, offering both safety and accessibility.
In addition, a 2-litre petrol tank is mounted on the floorboard, similar to the arrangement seen in the Jupiter 125. The petrol filler nozzle is placed on the front apron. Together, TVS claims a combined range of 226 km—approximately 84 km per kg of CNG, supplemented by petrol backup.
Engine, Performance, and Specifications

Powering the Jupiter CNG is a 124.8cc, single-cylinder engine delivering 7.1 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 9.4 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. It features an automatic transmission and claims a top speed of 80 km/h, making it suitable for city commutes.
Despite the new fuel system, the rest of the scooter remains largely unchanged from the petrol-powered Jupiter 125. This includes the design, suspension, ergonomics, braking setup, and wheels.
Expected Launch and Pricing
TVS has not confirmed an official launch date. However, the company is targeting an October 2025 debut, with an estimated price range between ₹90,000 and ₹1,00,000 (ex-showroom). The launch confidence remains low as the model is still under development.
Strong Public Interest
Consumer response has been overwhelmingly positive. According to TVS data, based on over 6,500 user interactions, nearly:
- 93% of users are interested in the Jupiter CNG
- 82% like the design
- 56% believe the price range is reasonable
Several users have lauded the affordability and dual-fuel capability. Others have raised concerns regarding the loss of underseat storage, safety of the CNG tank, and the need for CNG refueling infrastructure.
Competing Models in the Segment

While the Jupiter CNG stands in a niche of its own as a CNG scooter, it may face competition from electric scooters in a similar price bracket, such as:
- Okaya Faast F2T / F2B – ₹89,999
- Quantum Energy Plasma – ₹89,095
- Lectrix LXS 2.0 – ₹89,970
- Honda QC1 – ₹90,000
- Yamaha Ray ZR 125 – ₹88,396
These rivals, however, offer electric powertrains, positioning Jupiter CNG as a unique alternative for those looking for lower fuel costs without the wait time of EV charging.
Final Word
With India’s push toward greener mobility and the rising cost of conventional fuels, the TVS Jupiter CNG could prove to be a game-changer—if it reaches production. While there are still many questions surrounding safety, convenience, and infrastructure, TVS has certainly made a powerful statement with this reveal.
Stay tuned as we track the development and potential launch of this innovative addition to India’s scooter market.
